Network Lights

A Windows program, which blinks keyboard LEDs (Light Emitting Diode) indicating outgoing and incoming network packets on network interface.
Network Lights lets you monitor network activity (upload/download) from your keyboard ScrollLock and NumLock indicators. Each LED will flicker when network traffic is detected.

Using Network Lights

Just run the program. You will see new system tray icon.
Now you can monitor your network traffic using ScrollLock and NumLock leds on your keyboard.
To customize settings in Settings dialog click the mouse on the system tray icon.

Windows Vista Remote Assistance

Remote Assistance is a program installed on Windows Vista that allows technical support to access and control your
computer. This option can be a useful device when you are having a problem using your computer. Remote
Assistance gives you the option to get technical support to directly access your computer without having to come to
your house.


To access Remote Assistance follow these steps:
1. Go to Start and click Help and Support
2. Under ask for someone, click Windows Remote Assistance.
3. In the new window, click Invite someone to help you.











Unless you have Microsoft E-mail through Outlook or Exchange you should choose Save this invitation as a file.

→Create a password and save the file as a recognizable name.
→Go to your e-mail provider and attach the invitation to the e-mail. Be sure to include the password in it.

Once tech support has received the e-mail, your computer will ask if you want the USER to connect to your computer. Click yes to allow them to have access to your computer and to have dual control.
You can stop this connection at anytime by clicking Stop Sharing.

Mac SharePoints

SharePoints is an application or a preference pane that makes it easy to add and delete share points like in the old Finder. In Mac OS X, by default, you are limited to sharing only what is in your public folder in your home directory. This program makes it easy to share any folder. In addition SharePoints also brings back users and groups management to Mac OS X as well as easy configuration of AppleFileServer (AFS) and Samba (SMB) Server properties.

Daphne

Daphne is a small (system tray) application for killing, controlling and debugging Windows' processes. You can kill a process by dragging the mouse over the windows, by right-clicking the process in the main process list, or by typing its name with the "Kill all by name" command. You can set a any window to be always on top, to be transparent, to be enable, et cetera.
Although Daphne was born just to kill windows process. You can think of Daphne as a task manager replacement.

Mikogo

I have just been trying Mikogo which is a free online desktop sharing software.
What immediately grabbed my attention was the Mikogo Skype Extra, as a daily user of skype the ability to combine remote control access and screen sharing with my call is very handy indeed. This vastly simplifies the process of either showing how to do something or fixing up and maintaining a computer from afar .
Very useful for helping family and friends out when the need arises.

Mikogo requires you to create a user account and then download the Mikogo program. Participants who don't have an account can still participate in a meeting, however they are reuired to download the Connect program.
Just be aware only the Mikogo program can be used to create or join a conference and the connect program is solely to connect to a conference.

Now security wise the the meeting creator can password protect it and specify the meeting id. With all meeting transmissions sessions protected via Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) using 256 bits AES end to end encryption.

Overall very useful and easy to use and clear documentaion make it a breeze to use.
