Total Organizer is a Personal Information Manager, so, as you can expect you can store contacts, notes, to-dos in it. But, what is different is that:

• everything is organized into categories (”folders”) - as a hierarchical tree.
• each item (be it a note,task,contact etc) may belong to _several_ folders. This is known as “Tags” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tags). Additionally, those “tags” may be hierarchical (tree view), that´s why, in the “Total Organizer”, they are called “folders” not “tags”.
• if you´re in the “parent” folder, you can see the contents of this folder and its all subfolders.

Picture Namer is an application for Mac OS X 10.2 or higher used to name a folder full of pictures. It is ideal for naming a folder of pictures freshly downloaded from a digital camera. Picture Namer gives you the option to preserve the picture order, add a group name to every picture and automatically number pictures with the same name.

Mozilla Sunbird

Mozilla Sunbird is a cross-platform calendar application full-featured and easy to use.

Being a calendar, Sunbird greatest area of the interface is covered by days/weeks/months, events and tasks. The different views available let you choose between the elements to be displayed. If you want a pervasive hawk-eye view you can press Ctrl+3 for a multi-week view.
The great thing is that all the elements composing the interface are dilating once you maximize the window. This way a clearer look at the tasks and events of the day can be obtained.

Similar results can be obtained if you switch to day view. Just like in desk agenda, the page will be broken in boxes of one hour each. Depending on the length of the event or task programmed for a certain time these will be marked in a visible way so that you cannot miss it.

The fields to be filled in when adding a new task are no different from those when adding a new event. In fact the only deviation is in the attribute of the reminder (either task or event). Other than this everything is the same. You have to name it, provide a location, set a start and end point in time, you can make it repetitive or with an all day duration, choose the category to append it to (the categories are customizable, but Sunbird did a pretty good job with including the most used ones).

FreeMind is a premier free mind-mapping software. The recent development has turned it into high productivity tool. FreeMind is faster than that of MindManager because of one-click "fold / unfold" and "follow link" operations.

FreeMind will allow you to plan and organize projects including subtasks, state of subtasks and time recording.

Here are a few other ways you can use it:

• Project workplace, including links to necessary files, executables, source of information and of course information
• Workplace for internet research using Google and other sources
• Keeping a collection of small or middle sized notes with links on some area which expands as needed. Such a collection of notes is sometimes called knowledge base.
• Essay writing and brainstorming, using colors to show which essays are open, completed, not yet started etc, using size of nodes to indicate size of essays. I don't have one map for one essay, I have one map for all essays. I move parts of some essays to other when it seems appropriate.
• Keeping a small database of something with structure that is either very dynamic or not known in advance. The main disadvantage of such approach when compared to traditional database applications are poor query possibilities, Use for contacts, recipes, medical records etc. You learn about the structure from the additional data items you enter. For example, different medical records use different structure and you do not have to analyze all the possible structures before you enter the first medical record.

Freevo

Freevo is an open-source home theatre PC platform based on Linux and a number of open-source audio/video tools. MPlayer and/or Xine can be used to play audio and video files in most popular formats. Freevo can be used both for a standalone PVR computer with a TV+remote, as well as on a regular desktop computer using the monitor and keyboard.

Freevo is easy to download and install for new users. Most hardware is supported (graphic boards, sound cards and video capture devices).

The Freevo core is under heavy development. It is mostly written in the Python programming language which is very well suited for high-level control applications like Freevo.
